Which clients are supported?

Notes:

• To use Tarantella, a browser must have Java™ technology enabled.
• Some browsers allow users to enable and disable the JIT compiler. We recommend that users enable the JIT compiler.
• For best results, client devices must be configured for at least 256 colors.
• We do not recommend beta or preview releases of web browsers.
• On Linux 2.4+ client devices, the Tarantella Native Client for UNIX is only supported on Red Hat® Linux 7.3+ and UnitedLinux 1.0+ (including distributions from SuSE Linux AG, The SCO Group and others).

Which JVM should I use?

The release of Netscape and Internet Explorer version 6.0 browsers introduced an important change to the way the virtual machine for the Java™ platform ('Java Virtual Machine' or 'JVM') is handled. The change means that a JVM is no longer automatically installed when a browser is installed. Users can now choose which JVM they use.

If you are using a version 6.0+ browser, we recommend the following JVMs:

Note For Internet Explorer, we support both the Microsoft VM and the Sun Java Plug-In. We support the Microsoft VM on all platforms. We only support version 1.4.2 of the Java Plug-In on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
